Insiders guide to the best interior stores in Stockholm
A curated minimalist’s map to my favourite design spots & hidden gems
As someone who obsesses over design and gets so much joy from styling new pieces, then rearranging them twelve times for ‘balance’ (reading that aloud, I sound insane, but I promise I’m not…), I’m always on the hunt for design spots that stock cool, unique pieces.
That’s part of why I love Stockholm so much. It’s arguably one of the best cities in the world for interiors shopping - the Swedes really nail the effortlessly cool, minimal look. And I’m biased, of course, because it’s also where we got married, so it’s a place I’ll always feel connected to, beyond just its design aesthetic.
From high-end showrooms to more affordable (but still chic) boutiques, it’s the perfect city to source minimal, Scandi-style pieces that feel considered and timeless. So if you’re planning a trip to Stockholm, this one’s for you - a curated list of my favourite design spots, the ones I always share with close friends and family, and now, happily, to you. With, of course, a few places to stop for great coffee (being Australian, I’m a coffee snob!) or a crisp glass of wine along the way. Enjoy! x
Nordiska Galleriet
Where to find it - Nybrogatan 11, 114 39 Stockholm
Why it’s worth visiting - My heart skips a beat when I walk in here. Even if your bank account doesn’t agree, this is a must-visit on your interior shopping travels. Think iconic collectables, statement furniture (originals only, of course), and timeless decor pieces by designers like Audo Copenhagen and Georg Jensen. They also have a really good selection of coffee table books. My pick is The World of Art - Interior Design Since 1900.
Svenssons
Where to find it - Sveavägen 6, 111 57 Stockholm
Why it’s worth visiting - I couldn’t write this post without mentioning one of my favourite design spots, Svenssons. It’s Sweden’s largest retailer of design classics - I’m talking Louis Poulsen, I’m talking Carl Hansen & Son, I’m talking GUBI, and the list goes on! From the street, the store might not look like much, but take the escalator downstairs and you’ll find yourself in furniture, decor, and material showroom heaven!!
Feel like a coffee break? My favourite spots are Gast cafè or Pom & Flora x
Dusty Deco
Where to find it - Linnégatan 13, 114 47 Stockholm
Why it’s worth visiting - Dusty Deco has such a cool backstory, it started as a passion project by two fashion designers who loved vintage furniture & eclectic design. Over time, this brand has grown to have such a unique collection of rustic, warm and bold pieces with a story behind every curation. They also have showrooms in Mallorca and LA, so if you’re heading to either of those sunny spots, definitely add them to your list of must-visits!
Svenskt Tenn
Where to find it - Strandvägen 5, 114 51 Stockholm
Why it’s worth visiting - Svenskt Tenn is one of those places that feels like a Swedish design treasure chest. As soon as you walk through the doors, you’re immersed in a beautiful mix of bold and colourful patterns. Located on my favourite street in Stockholm, Strandvägen, it was female-founded (which we love!) by designer Estrid Ericson in 1924 and is best known for Josef Frank fabrics. There’s also a cute café upstairs that’s definitely worth a visit while you’re there.
ASPLUND
Where to find it - Sibyllegatan 31, 114 42 Stockholm
Why it’s worth visiting - This spot is quintessentially Scandinavian. Founded by two brothers, it actually started out as a gallery, and the showroom still has that calm, quiet vibe that makes shopping feel more like visiting a museum than a store. Alongside their own brand ASPLUND, they also carry a beautiful collection of international designers and carry fun decor pieces like this Backgammon set or this acrylic magazine holder.
Is it time for wine yet? You mustn’t miss Savant Bar for a natural wine, or The Sparrow Vin Bar - it has the most incredible wine list!
Design House Stockholm
Where to find it - Götgatan 14, 118 46 Stockholm
Why it’s worth visiting - I love this spot because it's all about giving up-and-coming designers a platform to showcase their work. The store offers unique pieces from designers who don’t fit the traditional Scandinavian mould but still share a Scandinavian perspective. You'll find work from talents not just from Sweden, but also from France, Germany, Australia, the U.S., and Chile.
Svenska Rum
Where to find it - Nybrogatan 15, 114 39 Stockholm
Why it’s worth visiting - This place feels like stepping into a perfectly styled countryside manor, with a Swedish twist. If you love that lived-in, antique-meets-modern vibe, you’re going to be obsessed. They’ve got beautifully restored furniture and pieces that look like they’ve been handed down through generations (in the best way!). It’s not huge, but it has so much beautiful charm. Even if you're not in the market for a full Gustavian sideboard, it’s a lovely spot for inspiration, and maybe a little something new for your shelves (because life’s too short not to buy the thing!!).
I could go on (can you tell?), but these are my favourite spots and will more than fill a few days of interiors exploring in Stockholm. Let me know if you come across any other gems along the way, and I can add them to my list!
Have a lovely weekend, and catch up next week.
